101st Anniversary of Maritime Education in Poland – School Festival [Video]

June 17th, 101. Anniversary of Maritime Education in Poland in the walls of the Maritime University in Gdynia held the School Festival.

The ceremony began on time at 8:00, a traditional flaglift at the University's main building. The UMG Senate, employees, students and UMG graduates gathered in the square in front of the University.

The flag of the Maritime University of Gdynia was solemnly introduced in the company of the UMG Representation Company and the Marine Border Guard Branch Orchestra. During the raising of the flag of the Polish Navy, the State Hymn was played.

The next point of the celebration was the Mass led by Father Edward Pracz – the Pastor of the Sea People. Holy Mass, celebrated for employees, students, PhD students and graduates of the University. The ceremony was celebrated by the Academic Choir of the University of the Sea in Gdynia and the UMG Representation Company.

At 10 a.m. at the T. Meissner Hall there was a solemn open UMG Senate meeting attended by members of the Senate, representatives of the University Council and invited guests. The ceremony was broadcast on-line, and its course was graced by the performance of the Academic Choir UMG.

During the ceremony, a commemorative speech was given by JM Rector of the Maritime University of Gdynia prof. dr hab. inż. kpt.ż.w. Adam Weintrit. Dr Janusz Karp, Director of the Department of Maritime Education in the Ministry of Infrastructure, also spoke. Workers of the University of the Sea in Gdynia were awarded awards for above-average achievements at work in 2020.

The celebration ended with the song Gaude Mater sung by the Academic Choir of UMG.
