29th anniversary of the creation of the 2nd Transport – Mine Ship Squadron

Setting up minesteads, transport by sea of soldiers and military technology, and acting as a command ship with mine defence forces in national and allied teams of ships are the main tasks carried out by the 2nd Transport – Mine Ship Division. Wednesday, July 14th is celebrated the 29th anniversary of the creation of the unit.
"The year of the creation of an individual is a special occasion to celebrate its history and traditions and the memory of the people who served in it, as well as to honor those who today devote much of their life to difficult and responsible service. [...] Thanking you for your efforts and commitment so far, I am at the same time convinced that we will be working together to consolidate the high position of the squadron among the units of the Polish Army, and especially among the units of the Navy and the 8th Coast Guard Fleet. On the occasion of the Feast of the Unit, its entire personal form, families and all related history over the years, I make the best wishes of all prosperity in service and private life." – Squadron commander Commander Marek Obrębski

2. The Transport – Mine Ship Squadron is a tactical division of the 8th Coast Defence Fleet in Świnoujście designed to place minesteads and transport by sea of troops and technical equipment. Squadron ships have the capability to load and land military technology in both port and unarmed shore.

The beginnings of the squadron date back to the 1950s. By order of the Minister of National Defence No. 060/org. of July 7, 1951, a Flotilla of Dessert Measures was established. After organizational and stage changes in the Armed Forces in 1965, it is organized from the Fleet of Dessert Measures. The unit was gradually equipped with new boats and landing ships of Polish production. During the peak period, the brigade counted: command ship, 22 medium landing ships and 18 landing boats. In 1977, the BOD entered the 1st Marine Bomb Squadron - a shore unit whose task was to perform transitions in the engineering-mining enemy dams in the coastal area and on the beaches.

In 1987, the squadron was oversold to Dziwnow, and then in 1993 it was reformed in the 4th MW Mines Battalion. By order of the Chief of Staff of General WP No. 073/org. of 12 July 1990, the unit was converted to the 2nd Transport-Minine Ship Brigade. Two years later, on 14 July 1992, the commanding officer of MW No. 069 of the Brigade was transformed into the 2nd Division of Transport-Minine Ships. According to MON Decision No 94 of 10 July 2020, the annual Feast 2. The Transport – Mine Ship Squadron was established on 14 July.
