30 years of ORP Kraków under white-red flag

For the first time, the white-red flag on ORP Kraków was raised on 27 June 1990. Thus the ship began its service in the Navy of Poland. On this occasion, on Friday, June 26th, at the War Port in Świnoujście, the crew and invited guests met at a solemn gathering, and a large band gala was erected on the ship.

During the collection, a special order was readwhich depicts the pedigree, history and achievements of the ship. The anniversary of the raising of the flag was also an opportunity to award distinctions to the crew. The commander of the ship expressed his appreciation for his daily, reliable service requiring many sacrifices and personal sacrifices. He paid his respects to the reserve soldiers and all the soldiers associated with the ship, thanking them for their years of service. He gave heartfelt wishes of prosperity and sincere thanks to the soldiers' families for supporting them and giving them the strength to carry out the mission of guaranteeing the security of our homeland.

ORP Kraków is part of the 2nd Transport-Mining Ship Division of the 8th Coast Defence Fleet in Świnoujście. Like other 767 (Lublin) design ships, it was built in the North Shipyard in Gdańsk. It is a unit designed to transport by sea troops and military technology, loading and unloading (both in port and directly from the beach) equipment and soldiers along with personal equipment. Squadron ships can once transfer a component of the Land Army into a battalion force consisting, for example, of nearly 500 soldiers and over 40 Rosomaks. They can also transport and place seamines in defensive minesteads and make transitions in minesteads using extended loads fired.
