Adamczyk: On Tuesday, a contract for the second stage of the Wiślana mine excavation

The contract for the implementation of the second stage of the Wiślana mine excavation will be signed next Tuesday, announced by the Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk on Sunday on the Polish Radio Program.
He added that a tender for the third, last, stage of this investment would be launched later this year.
"On Tuesday, we sign a contract for the second stage of the investment (exploiting Wiślana Mierze – PAP) which will allow to rebuild the water track on the Elbląg River within about 10 km. Thanks to this agreement, there will also be a rotary bridge on the Elbląg River in Nowakowo," said Minister Adamczyk.
"This year we will announce the third tender for the final stage of the investment. These will be dredging works on the Vistula River and the Elbląg River up to 5 metres deep and integrating the entire investment" - he added
The Minister recalled that according to the schedule in two years to the Vistula Basin and to Elbląg, ships with a depth of immersive depth of up to 4.5 metres, a width of up to 20 metres and a length of up to 100 metres will be able to influence.
He stressed that the excavation of the Wiślana Measure would be the engine of the economic development of the whole region.
The first stage of the construction of the Shipping Canal by Wiślana began in October 2019. Construction is on schedule. It is to end in mid-2022. The general contractor is the Polish – Belgian NDI/Besix consortium. The investor is the Maritime Office in Gdynia.
The entire investment consists of three parts. Stage I, which is currently being implemented, includes the construction of the Guard Port on the side of the Gulf of Gdańsk, the shipping channel with a lock and the construction of closures with waiting positions on the side of the Gulf of Gdańsk and the Vistula Basin, as well as navigation markings and cubature buildings, including the captainate Nowy Świat with installations and parking lots. This section will also create a new road system, with two moving steel bridges with a vertical axis of rotation, which will allow seamless passage over the canal, as well as a viewing point. On the Vistula Water, an island is built on which the land will be stored and will eventually be a habitat for birds.
Stage II includes the reconstruction of the existing water track on the Elbląg River in the area of shore housing, which will eventually take over the flood-proof functions of earthshafts, the construction of low marinas, facilitating access to the river, and the construction of a rotary bridge over the Elbląg River in Nowakowo, along with changes in the road layout. Preparations are underway to sign the contract with the contractor.
Stage III, integrating the entire investment, are dredging works on the Vistula River and the Elbląg River.
The total length of the new waterway from the Gulf of Gdańsk through the Vistula Basin to Elbląg is nearly 23 kilometres, of which about 2.5 km is the section for which the airlock and external port and parking station will be located. The canal and the entire watercourse will be 5 metres deep.
