According to design assumptions, Hobart ships represent a larger and modified version of F-100 rocket frigates designed by Navantia.

Hobart class rocket destroyers were designed as units measuring 146.7 m in length and 18.6 m in width. Their buoyancy is 7,000 tons. Ships reach a speed of 28 knots, and at a march speed of 18 knots have a range of 5,000 nautical miles.

Hobart destroyers will provide air defence for other vessels, land forces and critical infrastructure located on the coast. The weaponry allows them to destroy missiles and aircraft within 150 km. Hobart ships will also fight submarines.
