Baltic Power and talks to suppliers on the construction of the supply chain for offshore wind power

Nearly 600 people representing 369 companies and institutions took part in a meeting for companies interested in cooperation in the implementation of the Baltic Power project. The construction of a strong supply chain is now one of the most important measures to launch this strategic investment for the energy sector. According to the schedule, the work will begin in 2024 and end in 2026.

During the two-day Baltic Power Offshore Wind Supply Chain Meeting 2021, its participants could get the most up-to-date information on the investment carried out jointly by PKN ORLEN and Northland Power. In addition to the current schedule, information on purchase procedures and supply chain plan, participants of the meeting learned detailed plans and requirements of all seven so-called installation packages. Each of them concerns one from the key components of the offshore wind farm (turbines, foundations, logistics, service base, cables, sea and land power station) for which the companies selected in the upcoming tender procedures will be responsible.

– The project is entering a decisive phase of preparation, and this means that we have a crucial timing period for selecting suppliers. Within the next 6 months, we will sign the key contract for the project, and the contracted main contractors will start choosing and cooperating with local suppliers, among others. This is also served by our conferences – it is a platform for establishing business relations between potential major performers and suppliers they are looking for in Poland. This is important because as Baltic Power we will strive to involve Polish companies at the level of 20 to 30% of the investment cost – says Jarosław Broda, President of the Management Board of Baltic Power.

Organized in an online formula, another series, the conference brought together record 600 people from 369 companies, administrative authorities, local governments, scientific communities and industry organizations. In addition to presentations and questions and answers sessions, participants could also visit the supplier zone. It was there that more than 50 companies created their virtual booths, where visitors could get acquainted with their offer and establish business contacts. During 2 days of the conference All booths recorded a total of over 4000 visitors, each of whom could have left his virtual card at the stand. In addition to the information about the project itself, participants gained the opportunity to establish relations with other companies, including potential main project suppliers.

Due to the great interest in the conference, her website will be active until the end of 2021. In addition to the possibility of establishing contacts with companies located in the Suppliers Zone, a video recording of all panels and questions and answers sessions is available on the website. Access requires prior registration on the event website at: offshoremeeting2021.balticpower.pl.

Baltic Power offshore wind farm is currently one of the most dynamically developed such projects in the Baltic. In the area located approx. 22 km from the shore at the height of Łeba and Choczev, more than 70 wind turbines will eventually be located, with a minimum power of 12MW. Baltic Power offshore wind farm with up to 1200 MW installed will be able to provide clean energy for approximately one million households per year for more than 25 years.
