Baltimore: Attempts to Release the Dali Container Ship

In recent reports Coast Guard U.S. reveals that the container ship's release work Dali from the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge bridge in Baltimore they encounter additional complications. It will be necessary to cut off and raise the bridge bay, which significantly increases the difficulty and complexity of the operation.

Situation around unit removal Dali on the Patapsco River in Baltimore, which is stuck in the structure of the Francis Scott Key bridge, is more complex than previously assumed. Coast Guard The U.S. stresses that it will be necessary to cut and raise the 4000-ton bay of the bridge from the bow of the ship, which is quite challenging due to the poor technical condition of the structural element.

During Monday's speech, Governor Moore summed up the situation, highlighting the unprecedented complexity of container extraction operations Dali. The challenges of unpredictable underwater conditions, precise planning and coordination of work show that this task goes beyond standard rescue and order operations. Moore added that the crew had already managed to raise the 200-ton section of the bridge, and on 1 April a further 350-ton increase was planned.

Rear Admiral Shannon Gilreath, commander of the 5th district, indicates that the latest sonar and lidar scans indicate additional problems. Damages and deformations of the underwater bridge are much more serious than would suggest sections visible from the surface. This makes it difficult to determine where you can cut these elements to make the operation effective. In other words, the obscure system of damaged parts of the bridge under water complicates the finding of the best place to conduct cuts that allow safe removal of obstacles.

Both Coast Guard, as well as those responsible for coordinating the activities of the authorities, avoid specific declarations on the timing of the operation, which underlines the uniqueity and unique difficulty of the project. The Governor of Maryland, Wes Moore, speaking at a press conference, pointed out that while work on removing obstacles is progressing, much confusion remains and affects the planning of further actions.

In addition, it is also difficult to coordinate the operation itself, covering both human and technical resources. More than 370 people and 50 vessels are engaged in round-the-clock activities to restore navigation in the area. Bad underwater conditions, in which divers have to operate almost "blindly", further complicate order operations.
