According to foreign industry media, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, who served as Prime Minister of the Danish Government from 2011 to 2015, was nominated as a member of the Danish-Japanese company MHI Vestas. It is one of the world's largest producers of offshore wind turbines.

Former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt on the board of MHI Vestas is to replace Lykke Friis, who resigned last summer. By the way, it is worth noting that Friis served as Minister of Climate and Energy in the Government of Denmark from 2009 to 2011. As for Helle Thorning-Schmidt herself, she has been president of Save the Children International for three years.

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind is one of the global leaders in wind turbine production for offshore farms. Over 2.5 thousand people work in the offices and factories of the company. At the end of last year, the Danish company was the first company in the world to introduce a turbine with a capacity of 10 MW – V164-1.0. MHI Vestas hopes that the first such device will be mounted at sea in 2021.
