Four chemicalists in the IAS "Grifia". Szczecin shipyard and renovation needs

During the holiday period, four chemical types of different types were renovated at the docks of the Marine Repair Shipyard "Grifia". These are some of the most demanding ships going to repair yards. Some of them have already returned to sea.

Repairs of chemicalists in Szczecin shipyard

Chemical tankers belong to ships requiring special technical supervision. This is due, among other things, to the construction of cargo tanks, extended pipe installations and safety system requirements.

Simultaneous operation of four such ships requires adequate preparation of docks, efficient organisation of work and involvement of teams experienced in renovations specialised units.

Sten Suomi in dock number 5

A series of repairs is closed by a chemical tanker Sten Suomi, owned by Norwegian shipowner Stenersen AS. The ship is 144 m long and 23 m wide. He arrived in Szczecin for intermediate class renovation and was docked in largest dock Szczecin shipyard – dock no. 5.

The scope of the work includes hull maintenance, pipe installation work and partial repair of the main engine. The yard also checks and fixes selected components of the steering and propulsion system.

The four chemical-repaired tanks at the same time are a serious organisational challenge. Shipowners come back to us because we have experience and facilities allowing to conduct several demanding repairs and inspections at the same time.

The new floating dock will increase the possibilities of MSR "Grifia"

The capacity of the Szczecin shipyard is expected to increase after putting into service a new floating dock of 24 000 tonnes. The object is created in Stocznia Szczecińska "Wulkan".

The dock is to reach operational readiness in 2027. The investment will allow MSR "Grifia" to accept larger ships operating in the Baltic and North Sea for renovation.
