DFDS strengthens Rosslare-Dunkyer connection. As of September, there will be a third ferry

The DFDS announced an increase in capacity on the Rosslare-Dunkyerka route. From September 2026 the carrier will introduce the third ferry, which will extend the connection grid to seven coursethe two-way trip a week.

The DFDS strengthens the ferry connection between Irish Rosslare and French Dunkirk. From September on the line will appear third ferrywho will join already exploited Athena Seaways and Victoria Seaways. With its entry into service, the carrier will launch two additional courses per week in both directions.
The carrier explains this decision by continuing to increase demand for direct connections between Ireland and the continental part of Europe. After the changes, DFDS will offer a total of seven voyagethe two-way journey per week, which is intended to increase flexibility for freight carriers and extend the offer to passengers.
The merger is gaining importance for trade and tourism
As underlined by Owen Hides, Route Director of the DFDS, the launch of the third unit is expected to translate into greater bandwidth, better choice of terms and the level of reliability expected by customers. Glenn Carr of Rosslare Europort, on the other hand, estimated that the extension of the network of connections confirmed the growing importance of this connections for trade and tourism and strengthen the position of the port as an Irish gateway to Europe.
DFDS recalls that the merger has been operational since 2021 and built already a strong position among transport operators. The shipowner also points to an increasing interest among passengers who choose a direct crossing to France, traveling further through Europe by their own car, motorhome or caravan.
Additional connections will be launched from mid-September of this year.
