Flag Day and Constitution Day 3 May

Sunday and Monday, May 2 and 3, sailors 3. The fleets of Ships will participate in the celebrations of Flag Day of the Republic of Poland and the National Constitution Day of 3 May. In view of the epidemiological situation, the ceremony will take place in the small ace of the honorary Navy and will take place symbolically.
Delegations of sailors will lay flowers at memorial sites and will attend services for their homeland. On the ships of the 3rd Fleet Ships will be raised a large flag gala.
OBSERVATION PLAN
May 2, 2021 (Sunday)
Gdynia
- 12:00 – solemn raising of the State flag at the Polish Maritime Monument;
- 13:30 – the laying of flowers under the plaque of Blessed Fr. kmdr. Lt. Władysław Miegoń at the Naval Cemetery in Gdynia Oxywi;
- 14:00 – a solemn Mass in the intention of Homeland in the Naval Garrison Church in Gdynia-Oxiv.
May 3, 2021 (Monday)
Gdynia
- 08:00 – raising a large flag gala on ships of the 3rd Fleet Ship;
- 10:00 – a solemn Mass in the intention of the Homeland in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Queen of Poland (ul. Świętojanska);
- 12:00 – a ceremony to lay flowers at the monument of the Constitution of 3 May (Słowackiego Street).
Sopot
- 18:00 – Mass in the intention of Homeland in St. George's Garrison Church in Sopot;
- 19:15 – ceremony of laying flowers flowers at the Martyrology Memorial of Sopot Residents (ul. Kościuszko).
Flag Day of the Republic of Poland was established by the Law of February 2004. The date is not random. It is a day between two State holidays, in which Poles are accompanied by patriotic reflections. The date choice is also emphasized by the Polish and Polish Day celebrated on the same date. 2 May is a day when we focus especially on the origin and meaning of the Polish State Flag and the colours and national symbols. One of the provisions of the Act regulating our national colours of February 7, 1831, says that under this sign "the Poles should join". Therefore, on 2 May each year our flag is not only in Poland, but everywhere there are Poles, it is a symbol connecting and unifying our compatriots, representing a visible picture of our national affiliation.
Constitution 3 May was established by a government law which the Sejm adopted on that very day. It was designed to address the shortcomings of the political system of a state based on free election and noble democracy. It is widely accepted that the Constitution of May 3 was the first in Europe and the second written in the world, after the American Constitution of 1787. After the fall of the independent Republic in 1795 it became a symbol of the struggle to regain sovereignty.
