Ecuador with two second-hand Haeuri-A patrolmen

Ecuador acquired two Haeuri-A-type patrols from the Korean Coast Guard demobilization, these units will power the Ecuadorian Coast Guard.
Both units were inducted into service in 1990-1 and were built by the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard. Both were withdrawn from service in October of the U.B. and January of this year and then offered to foreign customers. Currently patrols with numbers 302 and 303 are undergoing repair and adaptation to the requirements of the new user.
Haeuri-A-type patrols have a standard displacement of 300 tonnes, a full 460 tonnes, a length of 53.7 m, a width of 7.4 m., dive 2,48 m, two MTU 16V396 diesel engines with a total power of 4,400 hp providing them a speed of 19 knots, a range of 2,100 nautical miles at 15 knots, and 39 crew members. Ships are armed by a cannon 20 mm and four inkm of 12.7 mm.
Interestingly, new patrolmen will have contact with similar intruders. Due to their projected targeting to the waters surrounding the Galapagos islands, their main task will be to combat illegal fishing by mostly Chinese fishing vessels.
