In recent days, the Red Sea and coastal waters of the Indian Ocean have again become an arena of increased armed activity. This region, as reported by the Pentagon, is experiencing an alarming escalation of aggression, which directly threatens the safety of shipping.

In a series of incidents that have occurred in recent days, Huti forces from Yemen have conducted a number of aggressive actions. First, on December 23, two ballistic anti-ship missiles were launched towards commercial ships passing through the Red Sea waters. Fortunately, these missiles did not hit any of the targets. Fortunately, as a result of this incident, no casualties were reported on the unit.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that attacks on Saibaba and Blaamanen were the 14th and 15th attacks on commercial maritime traffic in the region since the beginning of the series of aggression. In response, a rocket destroyer USS Laboon (DDG-58) responded to calls from both ships, shooting down in the meantime four drones approaching the unit.

The attack on this unit caused a fire aboard a ship flying the flag of Liberia. The crew of the ship, made up of citizens of India and Vietnam, managed to control the situation.

In response to this incident, India Polish Navy and the Coast Guard immediately took emergency action. A destroyer was sent to the scene INS Mormugao (D67) and patrol vessel ICGS Vikram (33), which escorted the damaged ship to Mumbai. Upon reaching the port, a detailed damage assessment will be carried out.
