Tacticos Thales system for frigate MEASURANT

As part of the strategy to expand its participation in the program MEASURER for the Polish Navy, the Polish Armed Forces Group signed an agreement with Thales. The agreement includes the provision by this global company of a combat management system (CMS) Tacticos and selected sensors, which will become a key element of the newly built frigate.

The agreement between the Polish Armed Forces Group and Thales does not come down to just another contract in the defence sector. This agreement is a breakthrough in the relations of both companies, emphasising the precise conditions and benefits for each party. This cooperation underlines the importance of details and specifics in strategic negotiations in which technological innovation and deep business understanding become the cornerstone of success.

In the context of the above-mentioned partnership, the development of the Navy fleet of the Republic of Poland is gaining momentum. An introduction to the service of the first frigate missile MEAT is planned in the next six years. Ultimately, by the beginning of the next decade, Poland Polish Navy have three such units capable of effectively combating various hazards, from aircraft to manoeuvring missiles, to submarines or land targets.

The prototype frigate MEASURANT is already under construction, and its finalization and launch of sea trials and tests are planned for 2026. Since it is the first unit of this type, the test period may take about three years, while subsequent units are to be entered into service in a much shorter time.

Key moment in project development was the signing of an agreement between the Polish Armed Forces Group and Thales. The agreement concerns the provision of essential systems for new frigates that could be compared to the "eye, ear and neuronal" functions of the ship. The company will provide key elements such as Sea Master 410 Block 2 and NS58 radars, Artemis infrared tracking and tracking systems, Blue Hunter sub-kile sonars, towed Captas-2 and Tacticos combat management system, will provide the ships with a technological advantage, making them one of the most advanced units in the waters.

It is interesting that the Tacticos combat management system is not a novelty for the Polish Navy. It is currently equipped with ORP Slązak patrol corvette and small 660M Type 161 Orkan rocket ships.

The Tacticos combat management system, used on over 200 warships worldwide, is considered a leading player in effective integration. The Thales system (CMS) stands out for its open and scalable architecture, which translates into a single information environment that is both efficient and user-friendly. Its software toolkit facilitates the integration of functions from other providers, while providing a smooth path to future updates of both the platform and the system itself. Used by the Navy of 25 countries, Tacticos offers an intuitive interface, significantly enhancing the operational capabilities of the ship.

The agreement signed today is not only an important step in the implementation of the MEASURER programme but also provides a solid basis for further joint ventures. Thanks to the transfer of knowledge and technology, the PGZ will integrate selected subsystems of the integrated mission system with the Tacticos combat management system.

Cezary Czerzan, Director of the Department of Marine Technology at PGZ S.A.

We are proud that after two years of development of solutions for the frigate MEASURANT we have been chosen to implement such a large programme. We look forward to bringing Thales engineering and technology aboard the ship and in cooperation with Polish industry to support the Polish Navy in the protection of Polish sovereignty.

Dirk Jan de Bruijn Vice President of Above Water Systems, Thales

This cooperation promises not only the technological advancement of the Polish fleet, but also the development of the national arms industry.
