frigate MEASURANT – strengthening the potential of the Polish Navy

Strong Polish Navy, is the foundation of a safe country that has access to the sea, during a crisis or war. It is the Navy that will be responsible for ensuring the possibility of continuous trade and supply by sea. In order to be able to respond to these challenges, Poland has launched a program for the acquisition of 3 multi-tasking frigates, codenamed MEASURANT.
The units of this class will significantly increase the military capabilities of the Polish Navy and allow to carry out a wide range of tasks at sea. The frigate MEASURANT is based on the Arrowhead 140 Babcock International project.
This design was adapted to the requirements of the Polish Navy and equipped with a number of state-of-the-art weapons systems. The frigate MEASURANT provides, among other things, a multi-layered defense system against Sea Ceptor air assault measures from MBDA, which allows to detect the tracking and destruction of multiple air targets at different distances, providing capabilities not only to defend themselves but above all other facilities or infrastructure.

The equipment also includes a wide range of Thales radiolocation and hydrolocation systems allowing effective detection, tracking and tracing of both air, water and underwater targets. The multi-tasking frigate MEASURANT allows simultaneous action to be taken in the field of combating submarines, submarines and neutralising threats from the air.
They are also able to cooperate with other elements of the country's air defence systems and allies. These ships increase the military potential of the Armed Forces of Poland, but will also constitute an important contribution of the Republic of Poland to the NATO defence system. Program MIecznik This is the result of the partnership between Poland and the UK.
A joint project to create a multi-tasking unit will address the challenges of the contemporary geopolitical situation. These ships will be built in Polish shipyards and with the great involvement of the Polish defence industry in a measurable way, contributing to the development of national and European industrial competences.

The multitasking of the designed units enables the frigateS OF THE MEASURANT to react anywhere in the globe where the marine component is able to provide assistance and support.
In addition to the collective defence of the Baltic Sea, these ships can support humanitarian missions or enforcement activities at sea, combating maritime piracy or illegal immigration. The frigate spokesperson is a new quality for the Polish Navy, it is also a milestone in the cooperation of the Polish and British defence industry and the Navy of both countries.

The burning of sheets under the prototype ORP Wicher unit took place on 16 August 2023. On 31 January 2024, a keel is planned for the first frigate.

Everything looks nice. Plans are good, but where's the money for three such ships when one such frigate costs PLN 5 billion and we have 8 billion for three ships at the moment? A review from the GAWRON project?
The second issue is who is to build such technologically advanced ships when schooling – let's call it "stockyard" has not existed for many years? Rent companies in REMONT and WAR shipyards?
