Spain: Children found 17 kg of drugs while playing on the beach

A group of children from the province of Grenada, in the south of Spain, finished Sunday holidaying on the beach by reporting to the police an unusual find – a container containing over 17 kg of drugs.

The events confirmed on Monday by the journal "El Confdencial" occurred on the Andalusian beach of La Herradura in the village of Almunecar.

According to a police report, a group of children found a large plastic container in which there was 17.2 kg of hashish during play. The discovery took place shortly before the small beachers returned home.

Prior to the opening of the plastic fuel can containing the drugs, one of the children called the police, supposing that brown packages inside the container could constitute a load of drugs.

Information from Andalusian police indicates that packed in plastic packages of hashish parcels ended up accidentally in a container to the beach. Investigators believe that the cargo may have fallen from the boat of drug smugglers and with the current of the sea reached La Herradura.

The southern coast of Spain is a common destination for the towed from northern Africa hashish. It most often reaches from Morocco.
