Compact but "mighty"
Argois an individual who, despite only 21 metres in length, can make an impression. Its pull force on the loop reaches 50 tons, and two azimutal propulsors allow it to rotate practically in place. Thanks to this, the new tow truck easily assists the largest containers and bulkers entering the port with surgical precision.
It's the eighth unit of Damen wefleet WUŻ Gdańsk– another proof of confidence in the Dutch producer. The ASD Tug 2111 project itself is among the most successful in its class: it combines maneuverability, stability and high power, while meeting the current IMO Tier III emission standards.
Created for difficult tasks
The tug was built in the FiFi 1 (Fire Fighting 1) variant, so it can participate in fire-fighting actions from water — from port fires to emergency situations on merchant ships. It was also equipped with a winter package, allowing to work at low temperatures and with a thin ice cover.
It's a high-power unit with high immunity. It fits into the philosophy of WUŻ Gdańsk: develop the fleet not only numerically but above all qualitatively– emphasizes the operator’s representative.
A new phase in the development of the CEF fleet
IntroductionArgois a further step in the modernization of the WUŻ Gdańsk fleet, adapted to the growing needs of the port and increasing ships calling to Gdańsk. Today, the operator operates towings and assists at deep-water container waterfront DCTs, as well as maneuvers at Naphtoport fuel and heavy-duty terminals in North Port.
In view of the development of infrastructure of Gdańsk port (e.g. planned FSRU project in the Gdańsk area) the parameters of the tugboat – 50 t bullard pull, FiFi 1, high maneuverability — They're a definite asset. Here and now the unit strengthens daily handling of the largest vessels in the port.
From Rotterdam to Gdańsk – directly under port cranes
The transfer ceremony was held on 23 October in Rotterdam. Shortly thereafterArgoHe went out into the sea and picked course in Gdańsk, flying its own flag – according to the tradition of sea crafts, which have been connecting European ports for decades.
He reached Gdańsk on 3 November, mooring at the WUŻ wharf. As the witnesses reported, the place felt this characteristic atmosphere, which only appears when the fleet is enriched with a new, shiny unit from the shipbuilding paint.
TugArgo: new maneuvering arm of the Port of Gdańsk
Argoit is not only a reinforcement for the WUŻ – it is also a signal thatPort of Gdańskconsistently builds facilities to operate larger and more demanding units. In a world where every minute of a ship's stop costs a fortune, it's about precision and speed.
For years now, it has been regarded as a model of professionalism in the towing industry, and the introduction of the new ASD Tug 2111 only strengthens this status. You can say thatArgois another strong port arm, ready to operate in all conditions – from autumn storm to winter frost.

Great entry! Finally, someone noticed that Argo is not only a new tugboat, but also a symbol of maritime cooperation – from Rotterdam to Gdańsk under its own flag, like a crystal ball on a spaceship. It's like a happy journey of a new toy home that is already on the way spoiling local competitors. Congratulations to WUŻ and Port Gdańsk! Now just wait until Argo overcomes summer boredom and winter emptiness too, because in the towing industry, like chess, every move matters, and a minute of stopping is almost like losing a fortune at stake...
