The MSC Paris container went to the port in Gdynia

The giant MSC Paris visited the port in Gdynia in late April this year. A container with a huge cobatura (102,761 tons of load capacity and capacity 8 204 TEU) docked on the Hel Coast I at the BCT (Baltic Container Terminal) on 25 April evening. It is one of the largest units ever to come to Port Gdynia S.A.
The container needs two days for rougeCargo 6 000 TEU (volume of container) and spent so much time in port. – The wrapping of such large units is a signal confirming the legitimacy of the new investment of the Port of Gdynia, which is the conversion of port turnover No. 2 – said Grzegorz Dyrmo, Vice President of the Board of the Maritime Port of Gdynia S.A. "The ongoing conversion of the port rotor will allow to operate more than 400 metres in the Gdynia container terminals", says Adam Meller, President of the Board of the Maritime Port of Gdynia S.A.
– The next stage will be to increase the depth of the approach track and individual port pools to 15,5 metres. The new rotor will enable shipping of container ships operating direct ocean connections to Asian ports to be hauled into the port of Gdynia and, I hope, American ports. We will take advantage of the opportunities offered by the market and consequently increase the quantities of containers loaded – adds Meller.
Last year was a record for Port Gdynia S.A. in terms of the overall overCargo. In 2017, 21,225 tons of cargo were transhipped, while the growth of transhipments was 8.6 percent. Large increases were also recorded in terms of tonnage of units that were hauling into port. 3,540 ships docked at the port of Gdynia.
