Leonardo: Integrated solutions for marine observation and defence

Leonardo is a market leader in designing and supplying systems and products for maritime defence and coastal zone surveillance. The company is able to meet all requirements Navy, taking into account any type of ship, any class and buoyancy — from small patrol ships and trawlers to aircraft carriers.

Over the past 50 years, more than 40 maritime organizations around the world have chosen Leonardo technology to equip more than 100 warships. In addition to the Italian programme "Legge Navale (Marine Law)" under which the fleet of this country is significantly renewed, other significant projects include joint Italian-French programmes such as Horizon and FREMM, the Qatar Naval Modernisation Programme and a partnership with the United Arab Emirates in the maritime sector. This allowed Leonardo to establish the position of a significant international partner in the field of combat system integration, as well as a leading supplier of advanced equipment meeting the requirements of the modern Navy.

Leonardo's maritime defence offer includes a wide range of products and specialist skills in: from production capacity and integration of combat systems, naval combat management and communication systems, to the latest generation of radar sensors, fire control systems, electrooptics and navigation systems. The offer also includes integrated unmanned aircraft, cannon positions of various calibers, missiles, torpedoes, sonars and electronic combat kits.

The company's business heritage in the design, development and implementation of command and control systems gave rise to the latest generation of naval combat management system – ATHENA, which allows for collecting, combining and managing data for efficient scenario assessment and management of available resources, and thus ensuring rapid and effective decision-making processes.

All Leonardo radar systems are characterized by state-of-the-art technology, flexibility and operational modularity. The latest example is the KRONOS® multi-function radar family, available in configurations with a stationary and rotating front surface – in the X, C and L frequency bands, based on Leonardo GaAs and Gan technology. Fire management systems are also at the forefront of technology: the new NA30S MK2, equipped with antenna and two-range radar (X and Ka), can support up to three types of weapons.

Leonardo holds the position of the world leader in the design, development and manufacture of small, medium and large caliber marine cannons (from 12.7 to 127 mm) with 76 mm artillery on the armament of over 60 world Navys. The product range of the latest generation: 127/64 Light Weight, Marlin 40 and Marlin 30, complements its flexible and efficient portfolio.

Leonardo also offers innovative DART ammunition for land troops and Navy to defend against missiles and highly maneuvering targets, as well as a family of precision Vulcano ammunition that can target targets well beyond 100 kilometres. In the field of submarine defence systems, the company designs, manufactures and integrates heavy and light torpedoes, torpedo countermeasure systems for submarines and submarines, and sonar systems for underwater observation. It is worth noting that Leonardo's heavy torpedo portfolio includes the latest generation of Black Shark, designed to counter the most demanding surface and underwater threats.

The company's lightweight torpedo portfolio includes bestsellers: A244, which have already sold over 1200 (in various versions), and MU90, manufactured and marketed in the framework of international cooperation with Eurotorp. Leonardo also continues to design new, technologically advanced light torpedoes. Leonardo also develops security systems for surface and underwater marine units. With experience in sonars, the company also provides underwater surveillance systems for ports, coastal areas and strategic sites. Company-produced underwater systems, selected and used by many marine forces around the world, are used in over 30 countries.

Śmigłowce morskie Leonardo pokrywają swoimi zdolnościami szerokie spektrum wyspecjalizowanych zadań, takich jak zwalczanie okrętów podwodnych i nawodnych, pikiety radarowe i obserwacja, wsparcie działań amfibijnych i operacje z udziałem sił specjalnych, poszukiwania i ratownictwo.
