MI: Polish-Italian talks about transport cooperation

Cooperation in rail, maritime and infrastructure projects was the subject of a discussion between the Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk and Italian Minister for Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility Enrico Giovanni.

The video meeting, held on 15 September 2021, was aimed at discussing the possibilities of cooperation between Poland and Italy in the field of rail, road and sea transport. The situation of Italian infrastructure companies operating in Poland was also discussed.
— Poland and Italy have significant potential to reap the best possible benefits from further development of cooperation — said Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk.
Ministers discussed further the issues of transport cooperation in the rail and maritime sectors. The railway theme highlighted the importance of existing cooperation between the Polish and Italian railway infrastructure managers within international railway organisations and the Freight Transport Corridor of the Baltic Sea – Adriatic Sea, which is of great importance for the development of intermodal transport in Europe. Minister Adamczyk pointed out that the Baltic Sea region is currently one of the fastest growing economic areas in the world, and the increasing volume of trade flows is increasingly served by ports sea.
— Polish ports maritime play a key role in the transport of 100 million tonnes and 3 million TEU in the Baltic Sea region in recent years. The integration of Polish seaports within the trans-European transport corridor Baltic – Adriatic is an opportunity to increase our cooperation in the context of the Scandinavian – Mediterranean transport line — said Minister Adamczyk.
During the meeting the issue of Italian companies from the infrastructure sector operating in Poland was also discussed. Minister Adamczyk stressed that Polish institutions have dialogue with all performers, both Polish and foreign, and that any changes and solutions are introduced on uniform terms, in accordance with the applicable laws.
