MI: The reconstruction of the Grunwald Canal has ended

On 3 August 2021, a press conference was held to complete the renovation of the Grunwald Canal on the Great Mazury Lakes Trail. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Marek Grobarczyk.
— Thanks to the reconstruction of the Grunwald Canal, the roadway of the waterway and the condition of the infrastructure used to operate it will improve. This is another investment that will contribute to security and increase the tourism potential of the region. — said Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Marek Grobarczyk.
The Grunwald Canal connects Lake Kotek and Tałtowisko on the trail from Mikołajek to Giżycka. As part of the project "Building and rebuilding infrastructure related to the development of economic functions on the Great Mazury Lakes waterways", the channel was rebuilt and strengthened. The work lasted 12 months and covered 0.47 km of the canal, without limiting water tourism. The cost of renovation of the Grunwald Canal was over PLN 9 million.
Project of redevelopment of canals on the Great Mazury Lakes waterways. As part of the project, five channels will be rebuilt and strengthened:
• The Talck Canal. The reconstruction will cover 1.6 km of the canal. There is a demolition of the existing shore reinforcement and the sinking of state seal walls on the right bank. Works related to the execution of a trailer are carried out on an ongoing basis.
• Miodun Canal. The 1.22 km channel will be upgraded. The demolitions of existing reinforced concrete insurance and works related to the execution of a trailer were completed. Sealed walls on the right bank are buried and these works have been completed on the left.
• Grunwald Canal. The investment has been completed.
• The Szymon Canal is the longest Masuria canal on the trail from Mikołajek to Giżycka, for reconstruction is 2.36 km. Existing insurance is being demolished and sealed walls are being torn down.
• Łuczański/Gizycki Canal. Repair works will cover 2.13 km of the canal. The invitation to tender is scheduled for the third quarter of 2021.
The cost of renovating five channels is close to PLN 109 million.
