Hornsea Wind Farm One: Work goes full steam

The Ørsted offshore wind farm in the North Sea, built by the Danish energy company, takes shape. The Danish energy company stated that the assembly of 104 of 174 monopal foundations for turbines and the installation of 66 cable connections were completed.

For the construction of the Hornsea One offshore wind farm, a specialized Innovation ship (147 m long, 46 m wide) is used, owned by GeoSea Group DEME. The crew of this unit at the beginning of this year mounted the first monopoal foundation at sea, approximately 120 kilometres from the British coast at Yorkshire altitude.

In total, the Hornsea One offshore wind farm will consist of 174 Siemens Games turbines with a power of 7 MW. This means that the total production capacity of the new farm will be over 1.2 GW.

Initially, the Danish energy company Ørsted owned the farm 100%. However, he recently signed an agreement with the American Global Infrastructure Partners to sell 50% of the investment.

According to the adopted schedule, the Hornsea One offshore wind farm in the North Sea will be put into operation in 2020 and will then become the largest offshore offshore power plant in operation.

The German company Siemens Games is already preparing to install turbine towers. Three days ago, the company announced that the first towers are already being prepared for transport to the sea, where the installation will begin. The company cooperates with the local British company Windhoist Limited. If work continues as planned, 20 towers will remain until the end of the year until transport to the site.
