Marine Force Training 8th FOW

Artillery shooting, mincing, trampling or landing operations are only some of the tasks carried out by the 8th FOW ship's tactical groups. During the last days the ships of the 2nd Transport – Mine Ship Division and 12th. The trawlers division carried out intensive sea training in the Gulf of Pomerania.

The 8.FOW force training began on Monday, May 18, with the leaving by the training ships of the Port of War in Świnoujście. Ships have been organized in ship-based tactical groups consisting of transport and mine vessels, transport boats, trawlers and auxiliary vessels.

At sea, crews together practiced the cover of maritime communication routes and tasks resulting from the destination of ships of a given type. A number of ship artillery shootings were carried out for both air and water purposes. The maneuvering of ships in complex formations and communication procedures between units has been improved. They also practiced conducting landing operations to the unprepared shore, directly to the beach.

During the 8.FOW exercise, mine tasks were also carried out – a reserve of mines was loaded onto the decks of ships, which were then placed on one of the naval camps, at the command of the War Port in Świnoujście. In the following days the trawlers led exploratory search for mines. They used hydrolocation stations and ship rafts for this purpose. One of the final episodes of training was replenishment of stocks at sea. Shipboards, from the Z-8 tanker, were given propellant materials and water.

This type of exercise allows the 8th FOW forces to improve training in activities that safeguard the interests of the state at sea. Today, the safety of maritime transport routes depends on a stable, non-threatening development of the maritime economy. The largest tonnage of international trade goods is transported by sea. Similar actions of the Naval unit are also implemented during exercises and operations in the framework of international cooperation under the auspices of NATO.
