There is probably 6.9 tons of amber at the mine.

According to the geological documentation prepared at the site of the Wiślana mine excavation, there is an amber deposit, estimated to be 6.9 tonnes. The robots have not yet reached this deposit," Deputy Minister of State Assets Maciej Małecki reported in the Sejm on Thursday.
Małecki admitted that at present neither the Higher Mining Office nor the Regional Mining Office in Gdańsk have control of the amber deposit located, according to geological documentation, in the Rybacky Kąty at the site of the Wiślana mine excavation. He informed the Left Members who wanted to know how much amber was in the dig, who was extracting and who was selling it to. "It should be stressed that the price of amber is several times higher than the price of silver and may even be PLN 20 000 per kilo" - said Marek Rutka.
The Deputy Minister said that the work on the mine excavation is still taking place on the mine deposit. "So there is no use of the deposit" - he stressed.
He added that so far no one has requested the Ministry of the Environment to issue an amber licence. He recalled that the concession could be applied for by an investor who, in the case of the mine, is the director of the Maritime Office in Gdynia.
"Until the possible issue of the licence (for amber extraction – PAP) the Regional Mining Office in Gdańsk does not exercise control over the investment," said the Minister and acknowledged at the same time that the institution received geological documentation of the miner's excavation, which contains information on the size of the potential amber deposit.
In answering the questions of Members of the Left, Malecki assured that the government intended to "keep an eye on this deposit". "I asked the President of the Higher Mining Office, and by telephone and in writing about this issue. This is an important thing and we will want to watch over this deposit," he said.
According to the fourth information given in the Sejm, the progress of the works at the site of the Wiślana mine excavation is now 50%. The construction of a canal on the Wiślana Measure is to be completed in 2022.
