Naimski: No one has challenged the launch date of Baltic Pipe yet

As Nafta-Gaz-Chemistry 2021 Naimski said, the problems that occurred in Denmark turned out to be "to be solved". "The term has not yet been challenged by anyone," he stressed.

On 31 May, the Danish Environmental and Food Board of Appeal repealed the environmental decision by forwarding the case for reconsideration by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency. The Agency informed PAP that it would take about 7-8 months to obtain a new permit.

The investor, Danish transmission operator Energinet, informed PAP that it was too early to assess the impact of the withdrawal.

Energinet is responsible for building part of Baltic Pipe from the connection to the Europipe II pipeline in the North Sea to the coast of the island of Zealand. From this point the Polish operator Gaz-System is responsible for the construction, including the location of the pipe at the bottom of the Baltic. More than 100 km of offshore gas pipeline between Europipe II and the coast of Denmark has been located in recent weeks. The land stretch ahead of Denmark is 210 km.

As the Gaz-System assured, on the sections for which it is responsible, the construction work carried out both on land and in the Baltic Sea is conducted without disruption and is carried out according to the timetable. The installation of the gas-System contractor – Saipem – is expected to start in the summer.

Baltic Pipe is a strategic project to create a new supply path for natural gas from Norway to Danish and Polish markets and to end-users in neighbouring countries. Gas pipeline will be able to send 10 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually to Poland and 3 billion cubic metres from Poland to Denmark.
