Hundreds killed and wounded in Lebanon after Israeli raids

Despite a temporary ceasefire in the war with Iran, Israel continues to lead targets in Lebanon. The Israeli army said it was the most intense wave raids since March 2. The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported in turn hundreds killed and injured across the country.

Strongest wave Israeli raids since the beginning of March
The Israeli army reported that they carried out mass raids for Hezbollah in Lebanon. According to the message, it was the most intense wave strokes from March 2, which is the moment Hezbollah joined to war Israel and the United States with Iran.
According to the Israeli side, nearly 100 strikes were carried out in just ten minutes, including command stations and military infrastructure. The Israeli army has identified this operation as the largest attack aimed at the infrastructure of this organization since the beginning of its operations.
The raids included Beirut, the Bekaa Valley and the south of Lebanon
Israeli aviation reported that the strikes covered targets in Beirut, Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon. These included intelligence headquarters, facilities used to prepare attacks, Hezbollah military facilities associated with its missile and naval potential, and infrastructure of Radwan forces, considered to be an elite formation of this organization.
According to the information provided, a significant part of the gunfire was located near civilian areas. Israel maintains that Hezbollah uses this location of military infrastructure to expose the civilian population to the effects of its military activities.
Warnings to civilians against bombings
Prior to the raids, Israel's Defence Forces issued communications warning the civilian population and calling for her to evacuate. According to available information, however, such warnings occurred very shortly before the impact, sometimes only 20-30 minutes before the bombing.
This is another element that strengthens the tension around Israeli activities in Lebanon. In practice, residents of the affected areas have very limited time to respond and leave the affected areas.
Lebanese Ministry of Health: hundreds of dead and injured
The Lebanese health ministry reported that as a result of Israeli raids across the country there are hundreds killed and injured. The loss scale shows that the current wave strokes are among the most serious episodes of recent weeks.
Reports of high casualties have appeared in parallel with information about Israel's continuing combat activities in Lebanon, despite halting targets attacks in Iran after the US-Iran truce.
Israel halted attacks on Iran, but not on Hezbollah
The Israeli army had previously reported that after the truce between the United States and Iran had been concluded, it had halted the strikes aimed at Iranian targets. At the same time, it was noted that the actions against Hezbollah in Lebanon are still being carried out.
Therefore, a temporary ceasefire does not mean calming the situation throughout the conflict. Lebanon remains one of the major directions of Israeli military operations and the south of the country is still an area the most intense fighting.
Hezbollah warned residents not to return to the south of Lebanon, where the most intense military action continues.
"Safety Zone" in the South of Lebanon
In late March, Israeli defence minister Israel Kac announced that the government of Benjamin Netanjahu is planning to create a special security zone in the south of Lebanon. According to these announcements, the Israeli military would control an area south of the Litani River, covering about 850 square kilometres of Lebanon.
Israel also wants to control all bridges on this stretch of river. These announcements have sparked a decisive reaction on the Lebanese side, as they are perceived as a step that could lead to a permanent seizure of part of the territory of that country.
The President of Lebanon warns against land invasion
Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun condemned Israeli attacks in the south of the country. In his opinion, they may prelude land invasions. The Lebanese authorities' assessment of the attack on the bridge on the Litani River, which is the most important link between the southern part of the country and the rest of Lebanon, was particularly important.
According to Joseph Aoun, the impact on this crossing strengthens suspicions that Israel may seek to create a buffer zone that would in practice serve to occupy the southern part of Lebanon.
Background to the conflict and the importance of the south of Lebanon
The South of Lebanon has for years remained an area particularly vulnerable to Israeli armed action during successive crises and conflicts with Hezbollah. After the war of 2006, the area was covered by UN Security Council Resolutions, according to which no armed forces should be stationed between the Litani River and the southern border of Lebanon except Lebanon and forces UN peace.
The current situation shows that this area again becomes one of the most important points of inflammation in the region.
What happens next with the situation in Lebanon
For the time being, there is no indication of a rapid extinction of Israeli activities in Lebanon. Despite a truce covering Iran's thread, the Israeli army maintains operations against Hezbollah, and the scale of recent nanites shows that conflict can continue to expand.
For Lebanon, this represents a further risk of increasing the number of victims, deepening the destruction of infrastructure and increasing pressure on the civilian population, particularly in areas with the most intense bombings.
