Nautilus Offshore Wind: these will be the largest sea windmills in the USA

EDF, a French energy company, will install the largest wind turbines in the United States. When the investments in the American offshore industry finally kick in, there should be much more such windmills behind the ocean, writes portal gramwgreen.pl
Several dozen of the world's largest wind turbines with a unit capacity of over 8 MW have already been installed in Europe. This is due to offshore wind power, which is not yet developing in the United States. To date, there have not yet been sea windmills – apart from several 5 MW General Electric turbines in the first offshore pilot project carried out off the Rhode Island coast.

Now even bigger turbines, with an individual power of 8.3 MW, want to put off the coast of New Jersey the developer EDF Renewables North America.
The Nautilus Offshore Wind wind farm, built in state waters at 2.8 miles from Atlantic City, is to consist of three V164-8.3 MW turbines, which will be delivered by the Japanese-Danish producer MHI Vestas.

Currently, the Nautilus Offshore Wind project already has the necessary permits and is subject to the assessment of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities state commission to approve support under the so-called offshore renewable energy credit (OREC). The launch of energy production is planned for 2020.
