Spanish Navantia with a proposal for the Swedish LULEÅ programme

Navantia held a meeting in Stockholm with representatives of Swedish industry on the programme LULEÅwhich provides for the construction of four frigates for the Swedish Svenska marinan. More than fifty representatives of local companies attended the event, organized at the Spanish Embassy.

Wide cooperation formula
The Spanish company presented the concept of Swedish industry's participation in both the construction of the frigate and their subsequent maintenance. Navantia emphasises that the project is to be based on a partnership involving the full life cycle of ships. The objective is to gradually transfer the technical maintenance competence to Swedish entities and to ensure continuity of operation within NATO structures.
Navantii's actions show that the Spanish producer wants to mark his presence on the Swedish market more strongly by treating the programme LULEÅ as an opportunity for long-term industrial cooperation.
During the event two letters of intent were signed — with Stockholm Repairard shipyards and Öresund Drydocks. Both plants can play an important role in service work and in creating a local refurbishment base for future frigates.
LULEÅ frigates – response to new needs
Programme LULEÅ assumes the construction of four new frigates to strengthen the Swedish fleet and to ensure its capabilities as required by NATO. Navantia emphasises that the proposed units will be tailored to Swedish requirements and delivered within a specified deadline and budget.
The representatives of the company pointed out that the proposed cooperation model worked well in ship-based programmes implemented in many allied countries.
The official part was followed by a series of "one-to-one" talks attended by representatives of companies interested in participating in the supply chain. Meeting formula to identify potential areas of cooperation and exchange of experience between companies and the Spanish team.
