New ships enter service in the Chinese Navy

Jane’s portal reported that Polish Navy The Chinese People's Liberation Army (MW ChAL-W) received two new large warships – a Luyang III (052D) destroyer and a Jingkai II (054A) frigate. Journalists of the portal request this from photos appearing on Chinese social media, where it is indicated that the entry into service of new units took place in late February.

According to the accompanying photos,, ships are called Guiyang and Zaozhuang and were incorporated into the fleet of the northern MW ChAL-W, which is one three fleets (aside the eastern fleet and southern fleet) of that country. The northern fleet consists of dozens of submarines and submarines, coastal defense units and aircraft. Its seat is in the city of Qingdao.

Luyang III destroyers have a displacement of over 7,000 tonnes and a hull length of 157 m. These are some of the most modern Chinese warships capable of firing HHQ-9 air-ground missiles and long-range YJ-18A naval missiles. Guiyang is the eighth such unit launched for the Navy, but was first built in a shipyard owned by the Dalian Shipbuilding International Company. All previous ones were constructed at Jiangnan Changxingdao shipyard, owned by China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

In turn, Zaozhuang frigate is 30 ships of this type launched for MW ChAL-W and appears to be the last. The unit built at Huangpu shipyard in Canton has a displacement of just over 4,000 tonnes and a hull of 134 m. It is equipped, among others, with anti-aircraft missiles HQ-16 and missiles to combat Yu-8 submarines, as well as missiles maneuvering the combat of submarines C-803. It is the eighth frigate of type Jingkai II incorporated into the northern fleet.

For years, China has been carrying out a massive modernisation of its navy, but still many individuals are considered obsolete. The speed with which the shipyards of the Middle States manage to build new ships, however, indicates that within a decade or two, the vast majority of MW ChAL-W units will be regarded as modern and similar capabilities to western construction.
