In recent days, the ferry industry in Spain and Poland has been enriched with new units: Varsovia and Margarita Salas. These modern ferries not only increase the comfort of travel, but also introduce technological and environmental innovations that contribute to the sustainable development of maritime transport.

Ferry Varsovia in the hands of Polferries
July 27th, around 1:30, the latest ferry m/f Varsovia made his debut in the Polferries fleet, starting his first voyage from Świnoujście port to Swedish Ystad. This modern ship was handed over to the Polish shipowner on 11 July by the Italian shipyard Cantiere Navale Visentini, located under Venice. Varsovia is the largest ro-pax unit ever built in this shipyard.
Ferry Varsovia offers 920 seats in 230 passenger cabins. Additionally, 107 comfortable pullman seats were designed for passengers travelling without a purchased cabin. The cargo space will accommodate 160 trucks and over 200 passenger cars.
Its spacious cargo line of 2940 metres allows the transport of 200 passenger vehicles and 150 trucks, making it one of the most modern units in the Polferries fleet. Ferry offers also a cargo space capable of holding 160 trucks and more than 200 passenger cars. Varsovia, as the first in two decades completely new ferry in the Polferries fleet, he started regular courses on the Świnoujście-Ystad route on 27 July, which represents a significant reinforcement of connections between Poland and Sweden, introducing new quality in sea travel in the region.
Spanish with new catamaran Margarita Salas
Spanish shipowner Balearia introduced into his fleet a modern catamaran Margarita Salas, built for 126 million euros at the Armon Shipyard. The unit operates connections between Barcelona, Majorca and Minorca. New ferry, modelled on a ferry Eleanor Roosevelt from 2021, it has an additional passenger deck and dual-fuel engines of 10% more power, allowing it to reach a speed of 35 knots.
It is worth mentioning that the diesel drive variant Wärtsilä 31DF, which was installed on the ferry Margarita SalasIt went to the Guinness Book of Records as the most efficient diesel drive in the world.
Margarita Salas is 123 metres long and 28 metres wide and can accommodate 1,200 passengers and 425 vehicles on board. Ferry This is a symbol of continuous technological and ecological development in the maritime industry. It is powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), which makes it more ecological. The unit is part of a sustainable development initiative co-financed by EU funds Next Generation under the reconstruction and resilience mechanism.
The interiors of the ferry were designed for passenger comfort. It has spacious lounges, a restaurant, a children's area and a view terrace. Margarita Salas also offers a digital entertainment platform, free internet access and an air-conditioned animal zone with video surveillance .
