About the program Swordfish at PGZ War Shipyard

On 21 October, the first meeting was held in the framework of the "MEASURE-Press breakfast" cycle, during which representatives of the PGZ-MIECHNIK consortium presented to invited journalists and representatives of analytical centres progress in preparing for the implementation of one of the biggest contracts in the history of the Polish arms industry – the construction of three frigate-class waterships under the MESICZNIK programme.

The representatives of the PGZ SW guided the participants around the yard, presenting the current production capacity as well as plans for the development of production infrastructure. The next part of the event included presentations of consortium representatives and a Question and Answer session. Cezary Cezary Czerzan, Director of the Mechanics Program, for the leader of the consortium – PGZ S.A., presented the project implementation schedule, the components of the Industrial Performance Study, which will be delivered to the Contracting Authority in December this year and the state of progress of work on the configuration of the System for Combat Management of Ships of the type of MEchanICS.

Industrial Performance Study, which will be submitted to the Contracting Authority on 10 December 2021, are not only Projects Conceptual Ship Platforms and a variant proposal for the configuration of the Integrated Combat System, but also Technical and Economic Analysis (where the lifecycle costs of future MEASURERS will be estimated), concepts of technology and knowledge transfer and infrastructure development, as well as programme management, supply chain and quality. This is a comprehensive concept of this very complex project – said Cezary Czerzan, Director of PGZ S.A. MEASUREMENTS Program.

Paweł Lulewicz, president of the PGZ of the War Shipyard presented a team that will be involved in the implementation of the programme, also indicating the main areas in which optimization activities are currently taking place, including in the field of infrastructure, technology and staff development. Program MIecznik This is an extremely ambitious project which requires cooperation at many levels. The foundation of its implementation is to have the right infrastructure, technology and, above all, professional staff. I believe that the experience of the team gathered at the PGZ War Shipyard is a guarantee of the success of this key programme for Polish naval forces – said Paweł Lulewicz, Chairman of the Board of PGZ War Shipyard Sp. z o.o.

Marcin Ryngwelski, President of the Board of the Shipbuiling S.A. Remontowa Shipbuiling S.A. presented how experience gained in the implementation of previous projects could translate into effective implementation of the program Miecznik.
Participation in programme implementation The sword is both an honor and a commitment to us. For many years we have successfully implemented programs of modernization of the Polish Navy, therefore we are well prepared to undertake new tasks. We are pleased that our experience in the construction of modern ships was appreciated by the Ordering Party and will be used to create three modern frigates for the Polish Navy – said Marcin Ryngwelski, Chairman of the Board of Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A.

Program MIecznik includes the development, construction and delivery of three frigate-class submarines with Integrated Combat System (ZSW) between 2021 and 2034. The consortium of PGZ-MICZNIK, composed of: Polska Grupa Armouryniowa S.A., is responsible for the implementation of the project, PGZ Stocznia Wojenna Sp. z o.o. and Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. The implementation of the project in Poland will create about 2,000 jobs in shipyards, arms companies and other industrial sectors directly involved in the project. The acquired competences will allow to develop new opportunities and help in other projects for the Polish Navy. The next meeting is planned as part of the "MEASURE-Press breakfast" cycle at the end of the first quarter of next year, i.e. after the selection of one of the ship's designs and its configuration by the Contracting Authority. The meetings aim to regularly inform the public about progress in the project and at the same time consult the expert communities on key issues.
