The famous ship Shackleton was found

We managed to find Endurance – a ship of famous Antarctic researcher Ernest Shackleton. The unit sank under ice in 1915. At a depth of 3 km, the wreckage remained surprisingly good.

Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust – organizer of the Endurance expedition22 announced that the Endurance ship had been found.

Famous Irish traveler, the polarist Ernest Shackleton in 1915 headed for the coast of Antarctica with the intention of taking a walk across the continent – from the Weddell Sea to the Ross Sea.

But the water froze and the ice trapped the ship. Although fortunately the crew survived, the unit after being crushed by increasing ice sank in the Weddell Sea.

Now, a hundred years after Shackleton's death, an expedition working aboard the South African research ship Agulhas II found Endurance at a depth of 3008 m.

The wreck acquired the status of a protected historical site and monument under the Antarctic Treaty. This means, among others, that during research, filming can not be touched or violated in any way.

In the meantime, underwater research units have shown the ship in excellent, as long as it has been underwater, a state.

Members of the expedition speak of great success.

We are stunned by our happiness, that we have managed to locate and photograph Endurance. It's the best preserved wooden wreck I've ever seen. It stands on the bottom erect, intact, in perfect condition. In the pictures you can see the stern below the reling.

It's a milestone in the history of polarity. But it's not just the past. We present the story of Shackleton and Endurance to new people and other generations to protect the polar regions and our planet. We hope that our discovery will inspire young people with the spirit of pioneers, courage and strength of those who sailed aboard Endurance, Antarctica. We bow before the navigational skills of Frank Worsley, Captain Endurance, whose accurate records were invaluable in the search for the ship.

In addition to finding and researching the ship, the expedition also undertook other sentences. Researchers participating in Endurance22 conducted hundreds of hours of research related to climate change, among others.

The next task is an educational action. Through cooperation with the American Reach the World and Royal Geographic Society researchers conducted regular online classes for thousands of students, with live interviews.

A number of short-lived programs have also been created to document the expedition and the discovery, made available to millions of viewers on various platforms, including TikTok. A long document is also planned in collaboration with National Geographic.

Our goal in the Endurance22 expedition was to locate, perform measurements and film the wreckage, but also to conduct important research. We were also going to popularize the effects of the expedition. We celebrate success to a limited extent because of today's events in the world and all Endurance participants22 remember and pray for those affected by these terrible events.
