Work on Baltic Power offshore wind farm takes on pace

Five 15 MW Vestas turbines were installed at the Baltic Power offshore wind farm, operated by ORLEN and Northland Power. This is the most advanced offshore wind energy project in the Polish Baltic waters; after the start in 2026, more than 1.5 million households were able to power up.

Advanced stage of construction of Baltic Power

Five 15 MW turbines were installed in the area of the future Baltic Power farm. According to the investor, the working days of five installed turbines will allow to charge almost 18,000 electric cars. The largest turbines currently delivered by Vestas in Europe, part of the gondol manufacture plants in Poland, including in Szczecin.

The energy of tomorrow starts today – it is not only a password, but a real effect of our actions. The first Polish wind farm becomes a fact. We started work in the Baltic at the beginning of the year, and already today we see their effects. Further turbines will supply Polish homes and industry with clean energy. It is one of the key projects of the Polish energy modernisation programme, which value reaches PLN 380 billion.

Maritime works include the installation of foundations – monopals and transition elements – the installation of subsequent turbines is in parallel. The foundation stage is approaching the half-mile. Soon the installation of internal and export cables will begin in autumnautumn forecastthe installation of offshore power stations, whose steel structures were prepared by shipyards in Gdynia and Gdańsk.

Service base in Łeba – participation of Polish suppliers

In May, an operational and service base was launched in Łeba, which will be responsible for the maintenance of the farm during the entire 30-year period; it is also the Marine Coordination Centre. In parallel, land infrastructure is created in the municipality of Chochewo, including a power station connecting Baltic Power to the national transmission system.

The project uses national suppliers widely. Gondolas, cables, steel constructions of reception stations and foundation elements were prepared in plants in Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Trimieście, Żarach and Niemodlin. Polish companies also carry out geological research, design works and logistics.

Baltic Power – strategic project of Polish renewable energy

The installation work at sea is scheduled to be completed in 2025, followed by certification tests and procedures. Baltic Power already holds the first certificates of project conformity in Poland for turbines and offshore power stations, which confirms compliance with existing technical standards and requirements.

The farm is to be launched in 2026. The installed capacity of 1.2 GW will provide renewable energy for more than 1.5 million households, corresponding to about 3% of national demand. In parallel, the ORLEN Group prepares further projects with a total capacity of approximately 5.5 GW, including the Baltic East – prepared for the December auction in the second phase of the national programmeoffshore wind power.
