The raw material received in this terminal will mainly strengthen north-east Poland and the markets of the Baltic countries such as Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, where the interest in cooperation with ORLEN is increasing.
The new agreement, valid until March 2030, will provide ORLEN with stable LNG supplies to the region. Gas will be transported by auto tankers, which is a more efficient solution than supplies from the Świnoujście terminal. LNG, among other things, has provided regasification stations in the areawhere traditional gas infrastructure is missing.
President of the Management Board of ORLEN, Ireneusz Fąfara, emphasises that Klaipeda has an important complementary role in LNG logistics. The terminal allows cost optimisation and flexibility in supply, which is crucial in the context of the growing demand for liquefied gas in the Baltic States. Although Świnoujście remains the most important point of reception of LNG for Poland, Klaipeda allows better distribution of gas into smaller markets.

The waterfront LNG station in Klaipeda is equipped with five tanks with a total capacity of 5,000 cubic metres of LNG, serving smaller vessels. ORLEN also receives LNG there on a larger scale from the floating KN Energies terminal, from which more than 656 000 tonnes of LNG have been imported so far.
KN Energies is an experienced LNG terminal operator operating in Lithuania, Germany and Brazil, who assists customers in the construction of sustainable energy infrastructure. Thanks to this cooperation, ORLEN strengthens its position as the leader of the LNG market in Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltic Sea basin.
