ORP Albatros at sea trials

On Tuesday, 8 bm. began the first phase of the ORP naval trials Albatros – the second of a series of three modern mine destroyers for the Polish Navy. The ship, designed to search for and combat seamines in the waters of the Polish economic zone and in tactical groups in the Baltic and North Sea, is built at Shipbuilding SA Remontowa shipyard.

– The unit has reached its readiness to go to sea and thus begins to regulate devices and systems. Prior to the beginning of this stage, we received the approval of the classification society for regular departures to sea, and next we intend to give the individual positions planned for implementation in the marine trials programme. Representatives of the Ordering Party, 4th District Military Representation, syndicates, PRS classification society and, of course, a large group of employees of our shipyard will participate in the naval trials – says Bartłomiej Pomierzski, the project manager of the construction of two mine destroyers for the Polish Navy.

The first phase of sea trials will last until 16 June and includes the testing of the ship's navigation, propulsion and equipment system. The second stage will begin on 18 June and last four days.

The contract covering the design and construction of two further mine destroyers of the 258 Kormoran II project, together with three packages of logistical support between the Armed Forces Inspectorate and the Consortium, chaired by Remontowa Shipbuilding SA, was signed on 27 December 2017 at the Ministry of National Defence in Warsaw.
