ORP Eagle at PGZ Naval Shipyard

On the morning of November 3, 2021, ORP Orzel was inducted into the PGZ War Shipyard. The unit of the 3rd Fleet of Ships in Gdynia will undergo current repairs.

The range of works performed in the PGZ of the Naval Shipyard includes maintenance and repair of the hull, repair of tanks: high pressure, ballast and fuel, repair of steering and ship-wide hydraulics and exhaust system. The agreement worth PLN 22.5 million between the PGZ SW and the War Port Command in Gdynia was concluded on 1 October of this year as a result of a tender procedure.

It will be another order for the Polish Navy this year, for which the War Shipyard has renovated, among others, ORP Kadm. Xavery Czernicki (under the consortium) and ORP Lightning. Currently, work is also being carried out on other units of MW RP: ORP Arctowski, ORP Gen. T. Kościuszko and SD-11 demagnetization station.

SPECIFICATION OF THE ROUND:

Eagle ORP is a third generation submarine design 877E. It was built at Krasnoje Sormowo shipyard in Gorki in 1985. The unit is characterised by its high capability to conduct combat patrols and reconnaissance and its main purpose is to combat submarines. It currently forms part of the 3rd Fleet Ships Squadron in Gdynia.

ORP Eagle celebrates this year's 35th anniversary of raising the flag. To this day he has over 97,000 nautical miles, immersed more than 800 times and participated in numerous national and international exercises.
