After the repair, the ship gained not only new equipment and better service conditions, but above all the possibility to carry out its tasks further, according to the applicable standards. The work was performed by the Szczecin shipyard NET MARINE – Marine Power Service. The fresh-smelling unit is already in its home port in Gdynia. Her crew has successfully passed the O-1 program task and is now preparing to pass the O-2 task. In early 2021, the ship will take place voyage navigation and training with scientific staff and subjects of the Naval Academy.
The ORP Wodnik School Ship is a "veteran" of Operation Desert Storm (part of it as a ship-hospital in operations in the Persian Gulf in the first half of 1991). During more than four decades of service under the white-red flag of the ORP Aquarius participated in the training process of over 3,000 future Navy officers. On the ship there are candidate practices, navigational and training practices and officer practices, during which the Naval Academy's subjects will learn about the conditions of service on ships. Trainees participate in technical-specialistic training, learn how to use weapons and use long-term mechanisms. Along with a full-time crew of the ship, they will know the ports visited. They learn the traditions of the Navy and its historical achievements. They have the possibility of practical application of "The Rules of Service on Ships of MW RP", "Sea ceremonial" and "The Methods of Combat Training". They participate in anniversary and patriotic celebrations honorably representing the white-red flag on the seas and oceans of the world.
After the renovation, thanks to the work done, ORP Aquarius gained new opportunities. ORP Aquarius has gained the ability to replenish liquid and solid cargo in the sea (RAS) and transport additional cargo. Repairing the ship gives the prospect of further swimming and carrying out tasks for training and improving the skills of future war-sea art adepts, in better service conditions and on modern equipment. Most ship-based mechanisms have been replaced or upgraded. Repairs and partial replacement of hatches, hatches and ship illuminators were carried out. The ship has been equipped with new navigational devices, significantly improved the appearance and functionality of sanitary and economic premises, adapting them to modern standards of crew life and operation. Main Position of Command gained modern consoles, improved visibility and comfort of watchkeeping service by increasing observation possibilities. Equipment of the ship with modern equipment and miniaturization of elements of existing equipment allows you to forget the date of entry into service of the ORP Aquarius. Now the ship meets modern requirements for both comfort service and conditions for training and safe swimming.
