OT Logistics sees post-pandemic reaction in ports

The OT Logistics Group (OTL Group) sees post-pandemic reaction in ports and will focus on freight handling and customer service on logistics, reported ISBnews president Konrad Hernik.

"We see post-pandemic response in ports and here we will concentrate our activities, including freight handling and customer service on logistics. This is our key activity," said Hernik in an interview with ISBnews.

The President also referred to the issue of the interruption of transport lines in deliveries which the market has been facing recently.

‘The supply chains were not interrupted, but temporarily disturbed. The case of the Suez Canal blockade showed that world transport is largely dependent on two passages. At the same time, the pandemic effect caused that there were no return charges in relation to the shipping containers from China. This caused the container deficit and the fight for their cultivation. This undoubtedly caused a problem and as a result a high increase in freight rates. However, we believe that this is a transitional situation which should return to normal in time" - explained Hernik.

He added that the group's plans include expanding the supported product groups and acquiring new customers.

"Residual rail transport has rapidly reflected the economic situation in steel production, which translates into an increase in revenues in handling and transport related products. The hydrotechnical segment has good prospects and we will want to benefit from its development, including in the construction of breakwaters, extraction of aggregates from water reservoirs, or works related to port infrastructure. We will also focus on modernisation and automation of processes, without excluding in future the expansion of port infrastructure by new terminals" - added the President.

The group also expects to operate Polish and foreign wind farms when supplying elements for their construction. The OTL Group is also in the process of implementing a strategy for consolidating subsidiaries.

"A resolution on the merger of OT Nieruchomości and OT Porty Morskie will be voted at the general meeting held on 5 October. Thanks to the consolidations, we will simplify the organisational structure of the OTL Group and be more transparent to investors" - concluded Hernik.
