PERN plans to relocate oil pipelines to Bugo-Narew

With HDD technology, or horizontal controlled drilling, PERN plans to transfer sections of the first and second strands of oil pipelines from the bridge crossing under Bugo-Narew. The company has announced a tender in this case. Tenders under this procedure may be submitted until 27 May.
In the announcement "Due to the HDD method on I and II thread under the Bugo-Narew River", PERN explained that the task is to carry out all the work and to draw up design and cost documentation, in accordance with the technical concept, as well as to carry out the author's supervision during the execution of the investment and execution of works.
In the published documentation of the proceedings, PERN stressed that the objective of the task "is to increase the technological and ecological safety of oil pressing on the East section" by transferring the first and second strand oil pipelines to the crossing of the Narew River from bridge crossing to HDD pipelines.
The scope of the planned investment, as stated in the company's announcement, is also intended to concern the dismantling of excluded sections of the pipeline of the first and second strands of the petroleum bus from the valve station in the municipality of Wieliszew to the valve station in the municipality of Pomiechowek.
PERN has already used HDD, a horizontal controlled borehole technology in the past, including the construction of the third strand of the Eastern oil pipeline section, connecting the reservoir base in Adamów at the border with Belarus with the raw material base under Płocek – works were carried out at the time under the rivers Bug, Liwiec, Wkra and Słupianka. In turn, in 2020, the company used this method to drag the new fuel main under the Vistula River in Płock.
Using earlier HDD technology, PERN emphasized that this is one of the most effective methods for the construction of pipes "in almost every ground conditions", but it does not interfere with the environment, using drilling deep under various types of obstacles, such as crossing larger rivers, canals, flood shafts or protected areas.
PERN is a state-owned entity, strategic to the energy security of Poland, managing oil pipelines to PKN Orlen refineries in Płock and Lotos Group in Gdańsk, as well as to two refineries in Germany and having storage facilities for raw materials and fuels.
