PERN expands the Paliw Base in Koluszki. A new diesel tank will emerge

PERN signed a contract for the construction of a new diesel tank in Paliw Base No. 1 in Koluszki. The investment worth nearly PLN 40 million will increase storage capacity and strengthen the security of fuel supply in central Poland. This is the next stage of the expansion of national fuel infrastructure.

PERN invests in the Paliw Base in Koluszki

PERN develops its warehouse infrastructure in central Poland, focusing on key locations of the fuel system. The Paliw No. 1 base in Koluszki plays an important role in the national logistics chain of liquid fuels, which justifies further investments increasing its operational capacity.

The new facility will be built in one of the key locations of the PERN storage system. The capacity of the base will increase from 439 000 m3 to 472,000 m3, which will translate into greater operational flexibility in fuel stock management.

Increased fuel capacity and flexibility

The expansion of the Paliw Base in Koluszki responds to the growing demand of the market. The facility is already working today using the full capacity available.

According to the head of Koluszko Department, Bartłomiej Ziółkowski, the new tank will allow to operate more customers and better use the strategic location of the base in the national logistics system of liquid fuels.

Next PERN investments in fuel infrastructure

The project in Koluszki is part of a wide investment programme of the company. In 2026, the construction of a petrol tank with a capacity of 24,000 m3 in the same location is planned. The tender procedure is in progress.

In parallel, PERN prepares the construction of another tank ondieselwith a capacity of 33,000 m3 at the base in Kawice.

Fuel security and stability

The development of storage infrastructure has a direct impact on security of fuel supply in Poland.

President of PERN, Daniel Świętochowski, emphasises that investments of this type increase the resilience of the system to fluctuations in demand and market distortions. Increased storage capacity allows to maintain continuity of supply across the country and stabilise the functioning of the fuel market.

PERN investment scale in 2026

There are currently seven vessels in the design phase with a total capacity of nearly 250 thousand m3. PERN plans to allocate PLN 416 million to the implementation of the investment and modernization in 2026, while another PLN 126 million is planned for the renovation of infrastructure.

Today the company has capacities exceeding 4.2 million m3 for oil and 2.8 million m3 for finished fuels. The systematic infrastructure expansion strengthens the national distribution system.

Logistics development: Railway and Naftoport

Investments also include other elements of the logistics system. The Paliw No. 2 base in Nowa Wielka is the start of a mass rail front.New infrastructureallows simultaneousCargo 30 railway tanks with 21 stations equipped with three connections to different products.

In parallel, Naftoport is being developed, which creates the sixth oil handling post. The investment will also allow to operate VLCC tankers and increase capacity by 9 million tonnes per year.

Dębogórze and Gdynia – further system expansion

In October 2025, PERN launched three new tanks at Paliw Base No. 21 in Dębogórz with a total capacity of 150 thousand m3. This made the facility the largest fuel storage in Poland, exceeding half a million m3.

At the same time, the transshipment infrastructure in Gdynia port is being expanded. The project will support the largest tankers operating in the Baltic Sea, which will increase import opportunitiesof our country.
