The launch of the new service by PERN, as explained in the information, is part of the strategy for the development of the fuel base in Dębogórz as a marine fuel hub. PERN added that this scenario also includes modernisation activities carried out by the Board of the Maritime Port of Gdynia.

According to PERN, even this year, as part of the increase in import capacity, a deeper approach to the Port of Gdynia Liquid Fuel Transhipment Station will be launched, so that tankers can be operated with a sinking capacity of up to 15 meters and a capacity of about 100 thousand tonnes. The Company considers that this will significantly increase the security of the continuity of the operation of the transhipment facility and will enable the operation of much larger units.

The implementation of the new service will provide PERN with additional revenues and, above all, will increase the safety of the oil tanker unloading process and will allow the implementation of a comprehensive offshore fuel import service for PERN customers.

Rafał Miland, vice president of PERN

PERN recalled that the investments in the fuel base in Dębogórz planned by 2024 would amount to PLN 150 million. The base has recently expanded by two new diesel tanks with a capacity of 32,000 metres of cubic metres each, and this year another – a similar size tank will be in operation.

According to the company, in addition to the tank park, at the base in Dębogórz there is a simultaneous modernization of the loading front of railway tanks and modernization of the railway siding. "In effect, the number of rail tankers loaded will increase by half, allowing six railway depots to be shipped daily and will significantly strengthen the stability of the oil product logistics market," PERN announced.

PERN is a state-owned entity, strategic for the energy security of Poland, managing oil pipelines in Poland to the PKN Orlen refineries in Płock and the Lotos Group in Gdańsk, as well as to two refineries in Germany and having storage facilities for raw materials and fuels.

PERN emphasizes that it is constantly developing its storage infrastructure, increasing the storage capacity of intervention stocks, thereby strengthening the energy security of Poland.

Recently the installation of roofs on seven new tanks in three locations was completed. The planned completion date of the entire investment is half this year. After expansion, the storage capacity of the bases will increase by as much as 224 thousand metres (six).
