PGE Baltica commissions geophysical research for IMF Baltica 9

PGE Baltica signed a contract with Geophysics Toruń S.A. for geophysical research for the Baltica 9 Marine Wind Farm project. This is a crucial stage of preparation for the construction of one of the largest investments in the Polish part of the Baltic.

PGE Baltica concluded an agreement with Geophysics Toruń S.A. to carry out comprehensive geophysical research for the project of IMF Baltica 9. The scope of the work includes the performance of high resolution reflexive seismics along with batimetric measurements.Research will allowpreliminary assessment of geological conditions and investment potential of the area where the offshore wind power plant will be built.

The area covered by the measurements is located in the northern part of the Słupska Ławica, about 48-50 km from the Polish coast. Work at sea will start in May and last until June 2025. The results of the analyses will be communicated to the investor in November this year.

Using an advanced seismic method will allow for detailed recognition of the geological structure of the seabed up to a depth of 100 meters.Research will allowto identify potential risks such as shallow gas, paleocanals or clay layers, which is essential for the safety of future infrastructure.

Geophysics Toruń S.A., selected in an unlimited tender, continues its cooperation with PGE Baltica, carrying out another task as part of the development of offshore wind energy in Poland. The company was already responsible for geophysical research for the projectBaltica 1, which confirms her experience in the offshore elevator sector.

Baltica 9 Marine Wind Farm is one of the five concessions granted to PGE in 2023. The planned capacity of approximately 975 MW will be located on an area of 121 km2 in the vicinity of other offshore investments carried out by PGE and the future service port in Ustka.
