PGE and Ørsted finalized all contracts for ships for wind turbine installations for the Baltica 2 project

The PGE and Ørsted Group contracted ships to install the second part of wind turbines for the Baltica 2 project – one of two stages of the Baltica Marine Wind Farm.

The installation of wind turbines for Baltica 2 was divided into two stages and the contractor of each of them selected separate tendering procedures. The second batch of turbines will be installed by Cadeler and this contract PGE and Ørsted finalized contracts for the installation of turbines. In early January, the contract for the installation of the first batch of turbines was awarded to Norwegian Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.

Cadeler is a leading global contractor for the construction, maintenance and dismantling of offshore wind farms. The company from Denmark has been specialising in the assembly of turbines for offshore projects for over 15 years.

PGE and Ørsted have already contracted all necessary components for Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, as well as signed contracts for the installation of foundations, turbines and cables. The partners also selected a general contractor for land connection infrastructure. They already have all the necessary building permits. The last step before construction will be the final investment decision (FID) by investors.

Baltica 2 is one of two – alongside Baltica 3 – stages of the Baltica Marine Wind Farm. Ørsted and PGE plan to complete the construction of the Baltica 2 stage with a power of approx. 1.5 GW by the end of 2027, while the Baltica 3 stage with a power of approx. 1 GW by 2030. Investors are still waiting for a final investment decision (FID). Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 will create Baltica Marine Wind Farm with a total capacity of 2.5 GW, which will significantly contribute to the transformation of Polish energy, providing green energy for almost 4 million households in Poland.
