PGE signed a sectoral agreement for offshore development in Poland

On September 15, PGE signed the Sectoral Agreement for the Development of Marine Wind Energy in Poland (Polish Offshore Wind Sector Deal). The agreement was concluded by representatives of the government, offshore investors, companies forming a supply chain for offshore wind power, industry organizations and representatives of the world of science. The aim of the cooperation is to undertake joint actions for offshore development in Poland and maximise the participation of national suppliers in the construction of the new energy sector.
PGE as the largest domestic energy producer and leader in the development of the Polish offshore wind energy market has been taking steps to maximize the share of domestic companies in the construction of offshore wind energy in Poland. Therefore, our determination to pursue this groundbreaking agreement, which is intended to give impetus to the construction of a new branch of the economy – He said Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polish Energy Group.
According to the signed agreement, the parties will take action to meet the objectives of the Energy Policy of Poland by 2040 and to meet the strategic objectives in the field of pace and directions of development of the MEW sector in Poland. This applies in particular to the implementation of a support system for offshore offshore offshore farms and the achievement of local content in the offshore supply chain of 20-30 percent for projects implemented under the first phase of the support system.
In addition, the signatories have committed themselves, among others, to provide the facilities in Polish seaports for investments in offshore wind energy, training of personnel for offshore sector and exploiting the potential of Polish shipbuilding industry to implement offshore wind energy projects.
The agreement was signed by representatives of the government side – including the Minister of Climate, the Minister of State Acts, the Plenipotentiary of the Government for RES; offshore investors, entrepreneurs associated with industry governments and representatives of universities and R & D institutes.
