PGZ Stocznia Wojenna supported the 230th anniversary of CONRADINUM. The growing need to train future shipbuilding staff

PGZ Stocznia Wojenna She supported the celebrations related to the 230th anniversary of the CONRADINUM Technician, stressing her commitment to the development of future staff for the Polish shipbuilding industry. On Saturday, September 28, the school inaugurated its jubilee year, which is not only a holiday for the school community, but also an important event for the entire maritime industry.

CONRADINUM has been playing a key role for generations in the education of highly qualified workers who supply a range of companies such as Gdynia Shipyard. Without graduates of this school it is difficult to imagine the development of the shipbuilding industry in Gdańsk and Gdynia. Cooperation between the school and industry is essential, especially in the context of increasing staff needs in the coming years.
The Jubilee celebrations began at 10:00 in the Basilica of Mariacka Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gdańsk, after which they moved to the area of the Ship and Technical School CONRADINIUM at 1/2 Grzegorz Piramowicza Street in Gdańsk. There was a further part of the celebrations that gathered many guests, including representatives of local authorities and shipbuilding industry.
PGZ Stocznia Wojenna: patronage of new class and need of specialists
During the Jubilee celebration, the President PGZ Stocznia WojennaMarcin Ryngwelski stressed the importance of CONRADINUM for the future of shipbuilding industry in Poland. In his speech, he pointed out that the facility has been consistently training qualified staff for years, despite trends in the elimination of technical directions.
"CONRADINUM has provided skilled workers for the shipbuilding sector for over two hundred years. However, a mistake was made by eliminating technical schools, assuming that the profiled schools would be sufficient. Today we face serious shortages of staff, and in order for our industry to develop, it is necessary to invest in education and training of future specialists," Ryngwelski said.
The President also pointed out the growing demand for qualified personnel in connection with the implementation of key projects such as the frigate construction programme MEATZNIK and the modernization of ships of the Navy. "We currently have fewer precision mechanics and specialists in the Tricity from fuel systems to main motor supply than dentists. This shows how urgently we need specialists in the shipbuilding industry" – added Ryngwelski.
At the end of his speech, he announced that PGZ Stocznia Wojenna will take the patronage of the next class of CONRADINUM technology, pointing out that the shipyard is waiting for future graduates with open arms. "Modernization of ships of the Polish Navy will continue for another 15 years, which is why we need young, well-educated personnel. Being a shipbuilder is the pride of our region," the president stressed.
Conradinum – talent for the shipbuilding industry
During the Jubilee, representatives of local authorities, shipbuilding institutions and companies who have worked with this well-deserved school have also given their speeches. All agreed to emphasise the great importance of CONRADINUM in staff training for the maritime industry and its invaluable contribution to the development of the region.
The President of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, pointed out that the school plays a unique role in shaping the future of the ship industry. "Conradinum is a unique school that educates young people at the highest level for years. It is a forge of talents that form the foundation of our ship industry. Thanks to this school, Gdańsk and the whole region can further develop on the basis of the knowledge and skills of future generations of shipbuilding professionals" - said Dulkiewicz.
Tomasz Mulica, Director of Karstensen Shipyard Poland, also stressed the importance of cooperation between the company and CONRADINUM. "Since the beginning of our activity, Karstensen Shipyard has been working closely with Conradinum, because we are well aware of the importance of this school for the development of the shipbuilding industry. Training young people to meet the challenges of the future is our common mission. We are pleased that we can be a part of this story and support future generations of shipbuilders," said Mulica.

Support for educational institutions such as CONRADINUM is crucial to ensure the development of this sector of the economy. The Jubilee celebration began officially before the school building in the presence of numerous guests, including the President of Gdańsk Aleksandra Dulkiewicz and her deputy Piotr Borawski. After the speeches, the first graders made a solemn vow, and the bell placed on the historic facade of CONRADINUM symbolically announced the beginning of the Jubilee year.

CONRADINUM has a long and rich history as a foundation for the development of shipyards in the region. Many graduates of the school, present at the ceremony, are experienced engineers and specialists who support Polish ship industry with their knowledge and skills.
