PiS announces implementation of the Shipbuilding Plan and support for ports

Law and Justice in its electoral programme announced on the party's website on Saturday, announces the implementation of the reconstruction plan of the Polish shipbuilding industry and ports. The strategic objective is to double port handling to 200 million tonnes in the coming years.
PiS wants to achieve this by e.g. expanding the capacity of seaports and supporting investment work already underway in Port Gdańsk (Central Port), Port Gdynia (Outer Port) and Port Szczecin-Świnoujście (construction of a container terminal in Świnoujście).
The governing party also announces the continuation of work on the excavation of the Wiślana Measure. This investment is intended to remove existing infrastructure barriers which limit the development of the north-eastern part of Poland.
The programme document reminds that in 2005 28 ships were produced in Poland, but in 2015 only one.
"The government will continue to work on the BATORY project. The aim of the project is to stimulate the development of technology, design and construction of Polish vessels and marine structures, to shift the shipbuilding sector towards innovative products and specialized units with high added value" – it is written.
The project continues work on the series ferryRO-PAX type. This work is carried out to replace the fleet of the Polish shipowner with new units built in the Polish shipyard.
Modern units, using current technological solutions and meeting environmental requirements, are to be built.
"A project of particular economic importance is also a restoration of the full potential of inland waterway transport. Inland shipping should be possible in Poland up to the level of the fourth class of navigability within transport corridors, in particular on the rivers Odra, Vistula, Narew, Bug, to support further reconstruction of inland waterway transport in Poland" - it was written.
In this context, it is a priority to achieve at least the fourth international navigability class at Odzańska Waterway and to integrate it into the European waterway network.
It is particularly important to make the Odzańska Water Road more effective on the so-called free-flowing section, i.e. from the new Malczyca lock to the mouth of Nysa Lusatia, as well as five limited places on Oder border – in the vicinity of Słubic and Kostrzyna nad Odra.
The PiS announces the continuation of reconstruction and modernisation of the regulatory building on the freely flowing and bordered section of the Odra. It also plans to eliminate the remaining rivers, primarily Vistula.
"We are already performing the task of reconstructing the original capacity of the stage tank in Rzeszów on the Wisłok River. It is also necessary to develop a programme for Sanu, whose aim is active and passive flood protection in the Sanu, Wisłoki and Danube Basins," the program says.
