First planned refurbishment of the multitasking ship Zodiac II

After five years of intensive service ZODIAK II He started his first planned renovation at PGZ War Shipyard. This is a special event not only for the individual, but also for the person who supervised its construction from the very beginning.

A unit of exceptional origin and service in the Maritime Office in Gdynia

The ship was built in Gdańsk Shipbuilding Repair Yard and then put into operation Maritime Office in Gdynia. Already at the beginning of his service he gained international recognition, receiving the title of the world's best multitask ship in his class. The process of its construction took place during the particularly demanding period of the COVID-19 pandemic, when many procedures had to be implemented in new, often limited conditions – with difficult access to foreign services and the need to adapt to the rapidly changing sanitary situation. This emphasizes all the more that the unit is a tangible proof of the flexibility and determination of the Polish ship industry and the professionalism of the team responsible for its construction process.

Daily ZODIAK II takes care of the safety of navigation in the Baltic, carries out hydrographic work and maintains a navigational marking system. The unit supports rescue operations, has fire systems and is adapted to combat oil spills. During the winter season, it can act as an icebreaker, also performing towing tasks and measurements using specialized equipment, including towed sonar. Presence of such vessels maintain the road and the efficiency of the maritime routes, which is particularly important with the increased role of transport and maritime energy.

Service work will take several weeks. PGZ War Shipyard declares that the unit will be transferred to the shipowner in accordance with the timetable, which will allow it to resume operations related to the security of maritime critical infrastructure and navigation in the Baltic without delay.
