Half-meter of the Independence Cruise. The gift of Youth flows to Singapore

The gift of the Youth, who has been around the world for five months with 1,000 young sailors on board, has already sailed 18,987 nautical miles in the Independence Cruise. On 9 October, a Polish sailing ship will arrive in Singapore, which is the thirteenth port of the expedition.

In Singapore's port, the sailing ship will welcome Marek Grobarczyk – the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Inland Shipping and Magdalena Boczewicz Polish Ambassador to Singapore. Minister Gróbarczyk will also meet Khaw Boon Wan, the coordinating minister for infrastructure and transport, and Masagos Zulkifli, the minister for the environment and water resources of Singapore.

Another crew change will also take place on the half-way of the cruise, including the sailing commandant. Captain Ireneusz Lewandowski will be replaced by Captain Rafał Szymanski.

As of 20 May, 623 young Ambassadors have already visited the ports, including Tallinn, Copenhagen, Bordeaux, Dakar and Cape Town. The ship went to 11 countries and crossed the equator twice.

Voyage Independence is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Shipping, the Maritime University of Gdynia and the Pallotin Missionary Foundation Salvatti. Its aim is to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland's regaining independence and promotion in the world. The crew consists of youth – winners of a nationwide competition, students of the University of the Sea and students of sea schools in Szczecin and Świnoujście.
