Location of keel under future ORP Henryk Zygalski

On 23 January, the Shipbuilding S.A. Shipbuilding S.A. Shipbuilding S.A. Shipbuilding S.A. Shipbuilding S.A. Shipbuilding S.A. Shipbuilding S.A. Shipbuilding S.A. Shipbuilding SIGINT (Ships of Signals Intelligence) was held in Gdańsk. The future unit, which will be baptized as ORP Henryk Zygalski, is an important element in the development of operational capabilities of the Polish Navy.

This ceremony not only emphasizes the importance of the Polish shipbuilding industry, but also represents an important step in implementing the Dolphin Programme aimed at strengthening the intelligence potential of the Polish Navy.

They're here. ORP Henryk Zygalski, named after an outstanding Polish mathematician and cryptologist, is the second of a series of ships ordered under a programme worth EUR 620 million. The partnership between the Armed Forces Agency and Swedish Saab Kockums AB, together with Gdańsk shipyard as the main contractor, demonstrates international cooperation and Poland's commitment to the development of modern defence technologies.

According to the schedule, Henryk Zygalski is to be handed over to the Navy by 15 June 2027. Its role in the defence structure of the country will be to conduct advanced radio-electronic recognition, thereby contributing to the international security of Poland.

Project 107, based on ships, was developed by the Gdynia design office MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting, following the Swedish HMS Artemis (A202). This new generation of reconnaissance vessels will replace the older units of project 863, also built in Poland, highlighting the continuous development and innovation of the Polish shipbuilding industry.

Project units 107 will be equipped with advanced technologies and will play a key role in the strategic operations of the Polish Navy. Their main task will be to monitor and capture radio signals, which will enable the identification of communication between different units – both military and civil. This key task will allow us to obtain valuable information that may prove decisive in the country's defence efforts.

Modern electronic recognition ships of Project 107 will deal with the analysis and decoding of intercepted signals. This will provide detailed data on potential targets, both military and civilian, including location, encryption, as well as number and type of weaponry. The critical element of their mission will also be the detection and location of signal sources, which is necessary to determine the position of the opponent and prevent electronic attacks. Such action will help to effectively address threats and enhance national security.

The support of the armed forces by project 107 will be invaluable. These units will provide information on military activity in a given area, allowing effective tracking of the movement of potential hostile units. In addition, they will carry out exploratory activities aimed at obtaining information about the plans and actions of hostile states or organisations. The ability to collect and analyse data will be crucial for the effective planning and implementation of defence operations.

Completion of future construction ORP Henryk Zygalski and his sister unit ORP Jerzy Różycki not only will it strengthen Poland's position as a key player in the field of maritime technologies, but it will also mark a new era in the history of the Polish Navy, raising its operational capabilities to a new, unattainable level.
