Port Gdańsk – stable travel and summary of the season

The stable number of folds, the increasing importance of Gdańsk on the Baltic route map and the symbolic return of the largest units – the 2025 cruise season confirmed the established position of the Port of Gdańsk in the passenger shipping segment. Although the pandemic slowed down development in recent years, today Gdańsk attracts the leading cruise shipowners again.

Back to form after the pandemic and geopolitical course change
The year 2022 brought a record result – as many as 79 passenger units visited Port Gdańsk, carrying nearly 30 thousand passengers. This increase was the result of rebuilding the traffic after the pandemic and changes in cruise routes after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. After sanctions were imposed on Russia, shipowners resigned from calling to St. Petersburg – to date one of the most visited Baltic ports. As a result, part of the movement was taken over by Polish ports, including the mentioned Gdańsk.

In the following years the situation stabilised – in 2023 42 wraps were recorded, in 2024 60, and in 2025 57. A total of over 27 thousand tourists came to Gdańsk from several dozen countries, mainly from the United States, Great Britain and Germany. After boarding, passengers most often visit the Royal Route, the Artus Court, the Mariacka Basilica and the European Solidarity Centre – points that have built the city's recognition as the maritime capital of Poland for years.

Stable movement is not only a result of the natural interest of tourists, but above all a consistent promotional strategy. Port Gdańsk regularly presents its offer at international trade fairs such as Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami or Seatrade Cruise Europe in Hamburg.
